A client recently asked us to identify creative ideas and trends in fashion retail branding. During our research, we came across the photographer Mario Testino who had been working with Michael Kors.
The lights and opulence of Las Vegas inspire Michael Kors holiday 2016 campaign featuring models Taylor Hill, Emmy Rappe and Woulter Peelen, in the advertisements. The images were captured by Mario Testino and feature the models against a backdrop of neon lights.
Mario Testino breaks through the creative clutter in Fashion Advertising and branding with stunning imagery utilising three KEY elements. Kors fashion, the millennial models and abstract neon light imagery.
He is widely regarded as one of the most influential fashion and portrait photographers of our times. His photographs have been published internationally in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. He has contributed to the strategic success of leading fashion and beauty houses, creating images for brands from Gucci, Burberry, Versace, Chanel, Estée Lauder and Lancôme.
Alongside his 40-year practice as a photographer, Testino has realised a body of work as a creative director, guest editor, museum founder, art collector/collaborator and entrepreneur.
For over three decades we have come to understand the world of Mario Testino from the images he collects through a lens. Less well known are the works of contemporary art that Testino has amassed from sculpture to painting and photography. His relationship with fine art has developed after frequent visits to galleries and artist's studios and also through collaboration. He said: “Just as photography is a vehicle for me to live a new moment, to go to a new place, meet a new person and so on, art is a process of encounter and discovery. The display of art for me is not just about seeing the work isolated in a white cube. It's also about engaging with the art - and sometimes the artist - to make something new.”
